UNH Women's Volleyball Ousts Towson in Three Straight

DURHAM, N.H.- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team defeated Towson University 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium. The games scores were 15-11, 15-8, 15-6. UNH extended its conference winning streak to 18 and improves to 13-8 overall and 3-0 in America East play. With the loss, Towson drops to 7-14 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

The Wildcat attack had local flavor as senior co-captain Bethany Cole (Canterbury, N.H.) recorded seven kills, including the booming match-ending kill. Junior Katie Jentes (Madbury, N.H.) had a team-high eight kills and also tallied seven digs. Junior Jen Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) had a solid day notching six kills and a match-high six total blocks, four of which were solo. UNH's offensive efforts were led by junior setter Stacy Barnett (Crystal Lake, Ill.) who posted 29 assists and helped the 'Cats to a .286 hitting percentage.

The Towson offense, which in comparison had a .110 hitting percentage, was led by Meridith Baron's nine kills and Andrea LaBlanc's 27 assists. Baron also had five total blocks and three service aces in the match.

UNH returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. vs. rival Delaware at Lundholm Gymnasium.
