DURHAM, N.H. -The University of New Hampshire volleyball team lost its first conference match in 24 matches with a 3-0 loss to Hofstra University. The game scores were 7-15, 14-16 and 5-15.
The 'Cats with the loss drop to 19-9 overall and 8-1 in America East play, while Hofstra improves to 19-5 overall and 8-1 in America east action.
The 'Cats were paced by junior outside hitter Jillian Ross (Naperville, Ill.) who recorded a team-high 12 kills. Senior co-captain Leisha Campbell (Oswego, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 kills and eight digs in the losing cause. Junior setter Stacy Barnett (Crystal Lake, Ill.) posted 34 assists leading the 'Cat attack.
For Hofstra, junior middle blocker Enkelejda Katiraj tallied a match-high 15 kills and also notched seven digs. Senior setter Lindsey Birkel accumulated 37 assists, while teammate Suzanne Shaw recorded eight kills and a match-high 17 digs in the win for the Flying Dutchwomen.
The 'Cats return to action at home on Wednesday evening against Harvard University at 7 p.m. in Lundholm Gymnasium.
