DURHAM, N.H.-- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-1 victory against the University of Hartford at Lundholm Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. The game scores were 15-10, 15-6, 14-16, and 15-6.
UNH, which improved to 23-11 overall and 12-2 in AMERICA EAST, trailed 5-4 in the fourth game but rallied to take a 9-6 lead and closed out the match with six consecutive points on the serve of junior Jennifer Walker (Fulton, N.Y..). Walker finished with match highs of 15 kills and five total blocks.
In the second game, the Wildcats were down 3-5, UNH came back on the serving of junior outside hitter Katie Jentes (Madbury, N.H.) who recorded four aces on her serve, giving the 'Cats the lead at 10-5. UNH went on to win game two with a strong effort by Walker.
Junior outside hitter Jillian Ross (Naperville, Ill.) recorded a match-high 13 digs and also chipped in 13 kills. Senior co-captain Leisha Campbell (Oswego, N.Y.) notched 11 kills, seven digs and three total blocks. Junior setter Stacy Barnett (Crystal Lake, Ill.) posted 35 assists and eight digs in UNH's final regular season match.
UNH, the No. 2 seed in the upcoming AMERICA EAST Champshionships, will host a conference semifinal match on Nov. 17 against Northeastern. Game time at Lundholm Gymnasium is 7 p.m. The title game is Nov. 21 (1 p.m.). The game will be in Durham if the Wildcats are the highest remaining seed. In the other semi-final Hofstra hosts Delaware on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.
