KNIGHT AND SCOTT NAMED CAPTAINS OF 2001 UNH VOLLEYBALL

DURHAM, N.H. - Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Knight (Centerville, Mass.) and sophomore defensive specialist Sasha Scott (N. Branford, Conn.) were named co-captains for the 2001 Wildcat volleyball squad. The announcement was made by UNH head coach Jill Hirschinger at the annual awards banquet held at the Elliott Alumni Center on Saturday, April 28.

In 2000, Knight played in all of UNH's 34 matches posting 192 kills, 122 digs, 80 blocks and hit at a .277 clip, while Scott in 23 matches recorded 60 digs and two service aces.

Senior setter Stacy Barnett (Crystal Lake, Ill.) took home Most Valuable Player honors as voted by her teammates. Barnett played in 33 games for the Wildcats, recording 1,350 assists, 24 service aces and 273 digs. Barnett leaves UNH as the school's all-time leader in career assists with 3,977 and leaves UNH third on all-time career list for digs with 1,005. Freshman setter Erin Ludwig (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) received the Coaches Award for her improvement and hard work in her freshman campaign. Senior defensive specialist Kelly Cutillo (West Islip, N.Y.) received the Judy Ray Academic Excellence Award for earning the highest GPA on the team.
