BOSTON - In a key America East volleyball matchup here this afternoon, the University of New Hampshire posted a 3-1 victory over Northeastern University. The game scores were 11-15, 15-8, 15-10 and 15-8. UNH improves to 20-9 overall and 11-2 in America East, while the Huskies fall to 16-14 overall and 9-3 in the conference.

Senior Jillian Ross (Naperville, Ill.) had a match-high 24 kills for UNH while senior setter Stacy Barnett (Crystal Lake, Ill.) had 71 assists. Senior Jennifer Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) and freshman Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) chipped in with 17 and 16 kills respectively.

UNH jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the first game, but NU would go on a 6-0 run to make it 7-6. The game remained close until the Huskies closed out the game with a 6-1 run to win 15-11.

The Wildcats would take leads of 7-1 and 14-4 in the second game. Northeastern battled back to within 14-8 but would get no closer. The 'Cats went up 8-2 in the third game before winning 15-10.

Northeastern jumped out to a 7-2 early advantage but it was UNH that came from behind this time as they rallied to win the game and the match.

The Wildcats return to action tomorrow when they travel to the University of Maine for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
