New Hampshire volleyball drops match to UConn, 3-0

STORRS, Conn. - The University of New Hampshire volleyball team fell to host University of Connecticut 3-0 in its final match of the IKON Husky Classic Saturday.

The Wildcats finished the preseason tourney with a 1-2 record after defeating Texas Christian University in the season opener (3-1) and losing the next match to the University of California-Berkeley (3-1).

New Hampshire pushed UConn to the limit in the first set 32-30 but fell in the next two sets, 30-21, 30-12. Sophomore Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) had a team-high 12 kills and 14 digs. It was Coler's third consecutive match with a double-double in kills and digs.

Junior co-captain Lauren Knight (Centerville, Mass.) and freshman Bonnie Wilson (Moraga, Calif.) each had six kills in defeat.

The Wildcats play host to Boston College Sept. 5 in their home-opener. The match begins at 7 p.m .
