BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) picked up a career-high 28 kills, two short of the school record, but it wasnít enough for the University of New Hampshire volleyball team on Saturday, falling in five games to Northeastern University at Solomon Court, 3-2.
The Wildcats trailed two games to one after three but battled to a 35-33 win in the fourth game. The momentum swung back in the Huskies favor in the deciding fifth game, however. The Huskies jumped out to an early 5-0 lead over the 'Cats. Kristin Ursillo tallied three aces in that span for NU. UNH fought back to make the score 11-8. Following a UNH timeout, NU reeled off four straight points to take the game 15-8 and the match.
The final match scores were 30-22, 20-30, 31-29, 33-35, 15-8. New Hampshire falls to 7-6 overall, 1-1 America East, while the Huskies improve to 11-6 and 1-1 AE.
Freshman Bonnie Wilson (Moraga, Calif.) was once again impressive for the íCats with 19 kills and a career-high 24 digs. Junior co-captain Lauren Knight (Centerville, Mass.) finished with 22 kills and 16 digs.
Gianina Pellegrini led the way for Northeastern with 20 kills, while Lindsay Wagner had 18 digs and 11 kills.
The Wildcats return action on Sunday at the University of Albany (1 p.m.).
