DURHAM, N.H. - For her efforts in a pair of recent wins over Stony Brook University and the University of Hartford, University of New Hampshire freshman outside hitter Bonnie Wilson (Moraga, Calif.) was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Wilson continued her sensational freshman campaign by posting 24 kills, 20 digs and six service aces as the Wildcats went 2-0 vs. the Seawolves and Hawks.
Wilson leads the Wildcats in digs with 2.82 per game and is second in kills per game with 3.37. Wilson had two solid matches against the Seawolves and Hawks. Against Stony Brook, she nailed down 13 kills and picked up four service aces and five digs to go along with two blocks. Versus Hartford, Wilson produced a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs.
UNH returns to action Nov. 10 when it hosts Northeastern University for "Pack the Arena Day". During last season's "Pack the Arena Day", the Wildcats hosted Hofsra University and played in front of a school and America East conference record 1,949 fans at Lundholm Gym. Early projections for this season appear to indicate upwards of 2,500 fans will attend the Nov. 10 match .
