DURHAM, N.H. - Jill Hirschinger, the University of New Hampshire head volleyball coach, announced on Monday that the UNH women's volleyball team will host the third annual "Meet the Team" at Lundholm Gymnasium on Sunday, August 10th at 3:15 p.m.
The event, which is free to the public, marks the end of the UNH high school team volleyball camp that includes 30 teams and over 300 players from the Granite State and New England. The blue/white intersquad scrimmage will kick off the event and following the game the team will hold a free poster giveaway and sign autographs in the lobby of the Field House.
The Wildcats who owned a 23-11 overall record in 2002, finished the conference schedule with a 11-1 record to win the regular-season championshp. UNH went on to defeat Stony Brook for the school's second America East championship and a NCAA tournament berth. The 'Cats return 12 lettewinners and five starters, including senior co-captain Sasha Scott (North Branford, Conn.), who was named America East Defensive Specialist of the Year, and senior outside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.), who was tabbed as the America East Player of the Year.
Head Coach Jill Hirschinger, the 2002 America East Coach of the Year, begins her eighth season at the helm of the Wildcat volleyball program. Hirschinger has amassed a school record 141 wins and five 20-win seasons since arriving in Durham in 1996.
UNH opens the regular season Friday, August 29th at the University of Wisconsin Tournament. UNH faces host Wisconsin at 7 p.m.
