MADISON, Wis. - The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Badger Invitational at Wisconsin Field House on Saturday.
In the final match of the tournament, UNH bested Missouri-Kansas City, 3-0, to improve its record to 1-2 on the season. The game scores were 30-20, 30-19, 30-15. In the early match, the 'Cats were defeated by the University of Washington, 3-0. The game scores were 30-14, 30-15, 30-17.
The Wildcats placed third in the Badger Invitational and senior outiside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts on the weekend.
In the UMKC match, Coler tallied a team-high 12 kills and added 10 digs. Setters Anne Davis (Groveland, Ill.) and Katie Weidner (Warrenville, Ill.) shared time for the third straight match quarterbacking the 'Cat attack with 22 and 12 assists, respectively. Senior co-captain Sasha Scott (North Branford, Conn.) registered a team-high 11 digs while junior middle hitter Natasha Otte (Plymouth, N.H.) chipped in with seven kills, a team-high six total blocks and a .312 hitting percentage.
In the Washington match, Coler notched a team-high 11 points, 10 kills and six digs. Sophomore middle hitter Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) tallied eight kills for the second straight match. Davis and Weidner tallied 16 and nine helpers, respectively, running the offense.
The Wildcat volleyball team returns action Friday, Sept. 5 in the first match of the UNH tournament vs. the University of Connecticut in the team's home opener. Game time is 7 p.m. at Lundholm Gym.
