PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team defeated host Brown University, 3-1, on Friday night at Pizzitola Sports Center in the first match of the Brown Tournament. The game scores were 30-24, 30-27, 29-31, 30-26.
UNH improved its record to 7-8 on the year, while Brown dropped to 0-6 on the season. The 'Cats fourth game was the best of the night with 15 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
Senior outside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) continued her strong play with a match-high 20 kills and a .326 hitting percentage. Coler also added a team-high 13 digs to become the fourth member of UNH's 1,000 dig club.
Senior middle hitter Chelsea Hammer (Eden Prairie, Minn.) tallied a season-high 11 kills and five blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) registered 12 kills and nine digs. Senior co-captain Sasha Scott (North Branford, Conn.) played well defensively recording 11 digs, while senior setter Anne Davis (Groveland, Ill.) posted 37 assists running the 'Cat attack.
The Wildcats' continue play at the Brown Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 27 with a 10 a.m. match against Georgia State and a 4 p.m. match vs. St. Peter's in UNH's final match of the tournament. UNH's next home match is Tuesday, Sept. 30 vs. Harvard. Match time is 7 p.m. at Lundholm Gym.
