ALBANY, N.Y.- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team defeated the University at Albany, 3-1, Friday night at University Gym. The game scores were 28-30, 30-26, 30-18, 30-28.
UNH has won eight of its last 10 matches and improved to 2-0 in America East and 11-9 overall. Albany dropped to 0-2 in conference play and 15-6 overall with the loss.
The Wildcats tallied 20 kills in the third and fourth games to finish with 73 on the night, while hitting a game-high .486 in the second frame.
Senior outside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) recorded a match-high 21 kills and a .439 hitting percentage to lead the 'Cat attack. Coler also chipped in with 13 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) amassed 19 kills and a .405 hitting percentage.
Junior middle hitter Natasha Otte (Plymouth, N.H.) and senior right side hitter Erin Ludwig (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) registered 11 and 10 kills respectively. Freshman setter Katie Weidner (Warrenville, Ill.) and co-captain Anne Davis (Groveland, Ill.) once again split time quarterbacking the Wildcat offense with 33 and 32 assists each.
Senior libero Sasha Scott (North Branford, Conn.) turned in another outstanding performance on defense with a match-high 21 digs.
The Wildcats play conference rival Northeastern University Saturday, October 11 at 4 p.m. in Boston, Mass.
