UNH volleyball sweeps Stony Brook, 3-0

DURHAM, N.H. - Senior outside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) recorded a match-high 20 kills to lead the University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team to Saturday night's 3-0 America East victory against Stony Brook University in front of 1,014 fans on "Pack the Arena Day" at Lundholm Gymnasium. The game scores were 30-26, 30-28, 30-23.

The Wildcats, who never trailed in any game, took sole possession of second place in the America East standings with a 4-1 record and a 13-10 overall mark. Stony Brook fell to 12-10 and 3-2 in conference play with the loss.

Coler also chipped in with 10 digs and a .319 hitting percentage, while sophomore outside hitter Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) posted 13 kills and seven digs. Sophomore middle hitter Karen Harrington (Windham, N.H.) and senior hitter Erin Ludwig (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) notched nine and seven kills, respectively. Senior co-captain Anne Davis (Groveland, Ill.) quarterbacked the Wildcats' offense with a match-high 33 assists, while senior co-captain Sasha Scott (North Branford, Conn.) tallied a team-high 15 digs.

Stony Brook was led by Maria Samilo and Rachel Goldsmith, who posted 10 kills apiece. Abby Egan registered a match-high 16 digs, while Julie Zub ran the Seawolves' offense with 30 assists.

The Wildcat volleyball team returns to action Oct. 24 vs. America East newcomer Maryland, Baltimore County. Match time at Lundholm Gymnasium is 7 p.m.
