WEST HARFTORD, Conn. - Senior outside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) recorded a match-high 18 kills to propel the University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over the University of Hartford on Saturday night at the Sports Center. The game scores were 30-20, 30-23, 30-19.
The Wildcats improved to 8-2 in America East play and 17-11 overall, while Hartford fell to 8-18 overall and 0-10 in conference action.
UNH, currently in second place in the America East standings, has won five of its last six matches.
The 'Cats recorded 23 kills with a .465 hitting percentage in game one and finished the match with 22 kills and a .463 hitting percentage in the final game. UNH notched 60 kills in the match and hit .392 as a team.
Coler also added 11 digs and an impressive .368 hitting percentage, while sophomore outside hitter Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) tallied 12 kills and six service aces. Junior middle hitter Natasha Otte (Plymouth, N.H.) chipped in with 11 kills, a match-high .579 hitting percentage and eight digs.
Senior co-captain Anne Davis (Groveland, Ill.) steered the Wildcat attack with 43 assists and seven digs, while senior co-captain Sasha Scott (North Branford, Conn.) and junior Jen Williams (Mountain View, Calif.) posted 16 and 13 digs, respectively.
New Hampshire returns to action Nov. 7 (7 p.m.) at Binghamton. The next Wildcat home game is Nov. 14 against Northeastern. Match time at Lundholm Gymnasium is 7 p.m.
