BOSTON - Senior Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) of the University of New Hampshire volleyball team was named America East Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Coler, who captured the league's weekly honors for the second time this season, shared the award with Hartford's Kelly McEathron.
Coler, an outside hitter, registered 31 kills, 22 digs, five blocks, four service aces and a .225 hitting percentage in two matches last week as the Wildcats secured the America East regular season title with wins over Northeastern and Albany. Coler averaged 4.4 kills per game and 3.1 digs per game in the two victories. She needs just 10 digs to break the UNH all-time dig record of 1,207 held by Jillian Ross.
By virtue of its regular season crown, the Wildcats will host the four-team America East Volleyball Championship for the second straight year. UNH hosts No. 4 Albany on Friday (Nov. 21) at 7:00 p.m., with the winner of that match facing the winner of Friday's first semifinal between No. 2 Stony Brook and No. 3 Northeastern on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the championship match.
