UNH's Coler named to AVCA All-Northeast Region Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior outside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) of the University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team was named to the All-America Honorable Mention team as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon.

Coler, who is the first player in Wildcat volleyball history to garner All-America Honorable Mention honors, guided the Wildcats to their second consecutive America East Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament with a 23-12 overall record and a 12-2 mark in conference play. Coler completed her Wildcat career as the Wildcats were defeated by No. 1 ranked Southern California in the first round of NCAA Tournament on Friday, Dec. 5 in Los Angeles.

She recorded a team-high 554 kills and 386 digs in her senior season and was named America East Player of the Year for the second straight season. Coler became the first player in the 13-year history of America East volleyball to win the conference's Player of the Year in successive seasons. Coler ranked third among conference players with 4.33 kills per game and her 3.02 digs per game was ninth best on the America East leaderboard. She went on to earn Most Outstanding Player of the America East Tournament with 38 kills and 28 digs in two matches.

Coler leaves UNH as the all-time career leader in kills (1,814), attack attempts (4,726) and digs (1,231). She also holds the UNH single-season records for kills (564) established in 2002 and attack attempts (1,508), which she set this season. Coler also holds the UNH record for kills in a single-match with 38 on Oct. 8, 2002 at Northeastern.
