DURHAM, N.H.-- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team was defeated by Maryland-Baltimore County, 3-2, on Friday night at Lundholm Gymnasium. The game scores were 32-30, 26-30, 18-30, 30-24 and 11-15.
Senior co-captain Natasha Otte (Plymouth, N.H.) paced the Wildcats with a team-high and career-high 22 kills, a .463 hitting percentage and four blocks on the night.
Junior co-captain Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y) registered 17 kills, while freshman outside hitter Toni Barnas (Cary, Ill.) had another solid performance for the 'Cats with a career-high 13 kills and 11 digs, which was second best on UNH's roster. Sophomore setter Katie Weidner (Warrenville, Ill.) accumulated a career-high 59 assists running the Wildcat offense to go along with eight digs.
Senior libero Jen Williams (Mountain View, Calif.) also turned in another great defensive performance with 24 digs on the evening. Williams (1,192 digs) needs 40 digs to become the all-time school dig leader, currently held by Alyson Coler with 1,231 digs.
The Retrievers (10-9, 1-1 AE) were led by Jocelyn Teoh, who posted a match-high 23 kills and 19 digs. Emily Berman and Julia Hood notched 18 and 10 kills respectively. Megan Gross finished the match with 55 assists and Christine Skala amassed 15 digs on defense in the win for UMBC.
The Wildcat volleyball team (4-13 overall, 0-2 AE) returns to action on Saturday, October 9th to host Stony Brook University on "Pack the Arena Day." Match time at Lundholm Gymnasium is 7 p.m.
