Wildcat volleyball to host annual spring tournament

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team will host its annual spring tournament on Saturday, April 22 at Lundholm Gymnasium beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The teams that will participate will be Kansas University, Boston College, University of Rhode Island, University of Maine, Dartmouth College, as well as two Wildcat alumni teams.

UNH plays the each of alumni teams at 9:30 and 10:30, while the 'Cats play intrastate rival Dartmouth at 11:30. UNH faces Rhode Island at 12:30, Boston College at 1:30 and Kansas at 2:30 p.m. The Wildcats conclude the spring tournament playing America East rival Maine at 3:30 p.m. Each game will be to 25 points using the rally scoring point system.

"The tournament marks the end of the Wildcats off-season training for the spring. This will be an exciting weekend for the program with all the alumni coming back to campus. This is a great opportunity to a see a high level of volleyball with Kansas visiting from the Big 12. The team has worked extremely hard this off season in preparation for a strong 2006 year," said head coach Jill Hirschinger.

In addition to the NCAA volleyball teams in action, UNH will also have two alumni teams competing in the tournament. The former Wildcats that will be playing on Saturday are; current assistant coach Stacy Barnett, Beth Cole, Kelly Cutillo, Amy Dai, Anne Davis, Karen Harrington, Katie Jentes, Lauren Knight, Jillian Ross, Katie Steffens, Erin Walker, Jen Walker, Jess Whalen (Houle) and Jen Williams.
