Wildcat volleyball downed by San Francisco in season opener

NEWARK, Del.-- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team opened its 2005 schedule with a 3-0 loss to the University of San Francisco on Friday night at Viera Court at the University of Delaware Tournament. The game scores were 30-18, 30-16 and 30-14.

The Wildcats were led statistically by sophomore Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) who posted a team-high eight kills in the loss. Freshman outside hitter Caitlin Dowd (Portsmouth, N.H.) had an impressive collegiate debut registering seven kills and a .200 hitting percentage.

Junior Sarah Rehn (Oceanside, Calif.) and freshman Lucia Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) shared the setting duties posting 14 and eight helpers respectively running the Wildcat offense.

The UNH volleyball team returns to action in the final day of the Delaware Tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 1 p.m. match against host Delaware and a 5 p.m. match vs. the University of Pittsburgh.
