Wildcat volleyball downed by Florida Atlantic

DURHAM, N.H.-- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team was defeated by Florida Atlantic University, 3-0 in the first day of the Ocean National Bank Invitational at Lundholm Gymnasium. The game scores were 30-20, 30-25 and 30-26.

With the loss the Wildcats drop to 2-9 on the season, while Florida Atlantic upped its mark to a perfect 10-0.

Sophomore outside hitter Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) paced the 'Cat attack with a match-high 15 kills to go along with seven digs. Senior captain Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) notched 14 kills and four blocks in the loss. She needs only 14 kills to surpass her sister Jen for third place on the all-time kill list.

Freshman Lucia Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) and junior Sarah Rehn (Oceanside, Calif.) split time quarterbacking the Wildcat offense with 21 and 13 assists respectively.

Freshman libero Callie Webster (Mercer Island, Wash.) posted a career-high and match-high 17 digs in the losing effort.

In the opening match of the tournament, Boston College defeated Siena College, 3-0. The game scores were 30-23, 30-21 and 30-14.

The UNH volleyball team returns to action on Saturday in the final day of the tournament with a 12 p.m. match vs. Siena and a 7 p.m. match against Boston College.
