Wildcat volleyball taken out by Maine in America East opener

ORONO, Maine-- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball was defeated by the University of Maine, 3-0, in the America East opener on Friday night at Memorial Gym in Orono. The game scores were 30-27, 30-19 and 32-30.

Sophomore outside hitter Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) paced the Wildcats on offense with a match-high 15 kills and 14 digs, while freshman outside hitter Caitlin Dowd (Portsmouth, N.H.) continued her strong play with 12 kills in the losing cause.

Freshman setter Lucia Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) amassed 33 assists running the 'Cat attack, while freshman libero Callie Webster (Mercer Island, Wash.) also added 14 digs in a strong defensive showing. Senior captain Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) tallied nine kills and eight digs in the match for the 'Cats.

The UNH volleyball team returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Binghamton. Match time is 1 p.m.
