BOSTON - After leading the University of New Hampshire volleyball team with 33 kills in road matches at Albany and Hartford, senior Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) has been named America East Player of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.

Over the weekend, Walker earned a .353 hitting percentage and 5.5 kills per game to go along with 16 defensive digs. She earned a double-double against conference leader Albany with 17 kills and ten digs Friday night. The next afternoon, Walker helped UNH sweep Hartford with 16 kills, six digs, two block assists, and a .467 hitting percentage, as she made only two errors in 30 kill attempts.

Walker is seventh in America East with 3.62 kills per game, sixth in blocks with 0.87 per game, and second in points with 4.49 per game. The only Wildcat to appear in every game of every match, Walker leads the team with 351 kills, 37 service aces, 73 block assists, and 84 total blocks.

Walker is the first UNH player to earn Player of the Week honors this season and the third Wildcat to receive a weekly award from the conference. Caitlin Dowd (Portsmouth, N.H.) was named Rookie of the Week on Sept. 19, while Lucia Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) earned Setter of the Week honors on October 24.

The Wildcats conclude the regular season Friday, November 11, against Stony Brook at Lundholm Gym beginning at 7 p.m. A victory over the Seawolves will clinch a berth in the America East Volleyball Tournament for UNH. Before the match, Walker and the other Wildcat seniors will be honored in Senior Night ceremonies.
