SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The University of New Hampshire women’s volleyball team lost to San Diego State University, 3-0 in its fourth match of the season on Friday night at Manley Field House in the opening match of the Syracuse Tournament. The game scores were 29-31, 18-30, 22-30.

    Junior outside hitter Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) paced the Wildcat offense notching a match-high 13 kills and adding 11 digs in the losing effort.
Senior outside hitter Sarah Rehn (Oceanside, Calif.) registered 12 kills, which ranked second on the ‘Cats’ roster. Rehn also added 10 digs on the defensive side of the ball.
    Freshman setter Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) ran UNH’s offensive attack with 20 assists, while sophomore setter Lucia Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) started the third game tallying 14 helpers in the final frame. Freshman libero Alyse Lahti (Pepper Pike, Ohio) totaled 16 digs as the starting libero.
    With the loss, the ‘Cats drop to 1-3 on the season, while the Orange evened its record to 2-2 on the year.
UNH returns to action in the final day of the Syracuse Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 2 with a 2 p.m. match vs. Siena and a 7 p.m. match against host Syracuse at Manley Field House.
    The Wildcats play their first regular-season match at home on Friday, Sept. 8th vs. Brown (7 p.m.) at Lundholm Gym in the opening match of their tournament. The ‘Cats will also host UMass-Lowell in an exhibition match on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Lundholm Gym (7 p.m.).
