DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team lost in its opening match of the UNH Tournament to Brown University, 3-2 on Friday night at Lundholm Gymnasium.

    Junior outside hitter Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) once again led the Wildcats in kills with 20 and posted 10 digs and six total blocks. Senior outside hitter Sarah Rehn (Oceanside, Calif.) and sophomore captain Toni Barnas (Cary, Ill.) also has strong matches with 13 and 15 kills respectively. Rehn also chipped in with 18 digs, while Barnas also notched 10 digs in a strong defensive outing.
    Freshman setter Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) ran UNH’s offense with 49 assists and six digs. Freshman Alyse Lahti (Pepper Pike, Ohio) finished the match with a career-high 21 digs in the losing cause.
    The Wildcats tallied 16 kills in the opening game and 15 kills in Game 4. UNH hit at .178 clip, which was a best for the match in the third game.
    The Wildcat volleyball team returns to action in the final day of its tournament on Sept. 9 against San Jose State at 12:30 and a 7 p.m. match vs. Texas-San Antonio on “Pack the Arena” Night.
