– Seniors Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) and Jess Compton (Woodridge, Ill.) each tallied a match-high eight kills, while sophomore Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) recorded a match-best 34 assists as the University of New Hampshire volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over the College of the Holy Cross on Friday night in the opening day of the UNH Tournament at Lundholm Gymnasium. The game scores were 30-13, 30-18 and 30-17.

With the win over the Crusaders the Wildcats improve to 7-4, while Holy Cross is now 3-9 overall.

Sophomore outside hitter Kirsten Bates (Calgary, Alberta) had another strong performance in the win with five kills, four digs and a .455 hitting percentage.

Sophomore libero Alyse Lahti (Pepper Pike, Ohio) served up a match-best six aces and notched 10 digs.

UNH registered 23 kills in the match with an impressive .290 hitting percentage. The ‘Cats had 13 kills in Game 1 with a .243 hitting percentage, 14 kills in Game 2 with a match-best .385 percentage and 17 kills in Game 3 hitting at a .273 clip.

The Wildcat volleyball team continues play at the UNH Tournament with a pair of games tomorrow. The ‘Cats will play Syracuse at 12:30 p.m. and Southern Methodist at 7 p.m. Other action will pit Holy Cross against Southern Methodist at 10 a.m. and Holy Cross against Syracuse at 4:30 p.m.

In the first game of the tournament, Southern Methodist (9-3) captured a 3-2 (30-21, 17-30, 30-19, 28-30, 15-11) win over Syracuse.
