DURHAM, N.H.- Seniors Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) Toni Barnas (Cary, Ill.) and sophomore Kirsten Bates (Calgary, Alb.) recorded 12, 11 and 10 kills, respectively, to lift the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a 3-0 win over the University of Hartford on Sunday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium. The scores were 30-18, 30-27, 30-28. The Wildcats extend their winning streak with Hartford to 22 games and improve to 14-7 on the season, 2-3 in America East. The Hawks drop to 7-15, 0-5 in the conference.

New Hampshire hit a .358 mark, compared to Hartford’s .208 in the match. In addition to the hitting trio, sophomore Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) recorded a team-high 37 assists in the match to go along with eight digs for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first game and never looked back. The Hawks bounced back in the second game, taking the lead three times throughout the contest, but back-to-back kills by sophomore Lindsay Fogarty (Pleasanton, Calif.) and senior Jessica Compton (Woodridge, Ill.) sealed the game for New Hampshire.

In the third game, Uitti served five in a row to start the Wildcats off on a 5-0 lead. The Hawks were able to even the score down the stretch at 28 apiece, but Bates served an ace to end the game in favor of the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will travel to Maine to face the Black Bears on Saturday, Oct. 20. Game time at Memorial Gym is 4 p.m.
