DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore outside hitter Kirsten Bates (Calgary, Alberta) registered a match-high 19 kills to pace the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a 3-0 exhibition win against Bentley College on Tuesday night at Lundholm Gymnasium. The game scores were 30-12, 30-28 and 30-13.
    Bates added an impressive .720 hitting percentage to go along with six digs and 20.5 points. Senior tri-captain Toni Barnas (Cary, Ill.) was the only other Wildcat to post double-digit kills with 10 and a she also hit at a .318 clip with two blocks.
    Senior middle blocker Jess Compton (Woodridge, Ill.) and sophomore Lindsay Fogarty (Pleasanton, Calif.) notched nine and seven kills respectively to go along with a perfect hitting percentage for Compton and a .545 mark for Fogarty.
    Sophomore setter Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) amassed 32 assists running the UNH offense before giving way to freshman Sara Heldman (Greenwood, Ind.) who tallied 11 assists at the helm of the ‘Cats offensive attack.
    Sophomore libero Alyse Lahti (Pepper Pike, Ohio) and Uitti led the Wildcats on defense with eight digs apiece.
    UNH as a team posted 16 kills in Game 1, 21 in Game 2 and 14 with a .667 hitting percentage in the final game.
    The Wildcats (3-0 overall, 0-0 America East) return to action on Thursday, August 30 vs. Sacred Heart at the BC/Northeastern Tournament. Game time is 4:30 at Power Gym in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
