89 STUDENT-ATHLETES RECEIVE AMERICA EAST ACADEMIC HONORS
UNH HONOR ROLL

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
– A total of 89 University of New Hampshire student-athletes were named to the 2007 America East Fall Academic Honor Roll for recording a grade point average of 3.0 or above in that fall semester, the league announced Thursday. Forty-one of those Wildcats were also named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll and received that distinction with a gpa of at least 3.5.

In the nine-member America East conference, only the University of Vermont (91 honorees) had a higher number of student-athletes recognized. Stony Brook University (83), University of Maine (77) and Binghamton University (66) rounded out the top five.

The UNH women’s cross country team boasted 21 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll, which tied for the highest total in that sport (Stony Brook also had 21 runners feted). Twelve of those Wildcats were on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. New Hampshire also had the highest total in volleyball with 10 players making the grade; SBU, Binghamton and Maine tied that total.

Women’s soccer followed women’s cross country with 20 players receiving Academic recognition and 11 on the Commissioner’s roll, while 18 men’s soccer players recorded a 3.0 or higher gpa with four of those at 3.5 or higher. Field hockey and men’s cross country both had 10 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll.
