CAMBRIDGE, Mass.  – Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.), a sophomore tri-captain on the University of New Hampshire volleyball team, was named Setter of the Week by America East on Tuesday. This past weekend she was named to the BC/NU Challenge All-Tournament Team for her efforts in those four matches.

Uitti, as the primary setter, guided UNH to a 5-2 record – the team’s best start since 1997 and included the Wildcats’ first 4-0 start since 1975 – by compiling 237 assists for an average of 11.29 in 21 games. That average ranks third best in the conference and the Wildcats have a league-best .256 team hitting percentage in large part due to Uitti guiding the attack.

Uitti, who garnered All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team accolades last season, also ranks third on the team in service aces and digs as well as fourth in blocks. Furthermore, Uitti, who started all seven matches, has contributed 18 kills on a .200 hitting percentage.

New Hampshire returns to action Sept. 7-8 at the University of Maryland Tournament; the Wildcats open that tourney Friday (5 p.m.) against Temple University. UNH’s first home match is the team’s opener of the UNH Tournament against College of the Holy Cross on Sept. 14. Start time at Lundholm Gymnasium is 7 p.m.

Tickets for that and all other home volleyball matches are available online at www.unhwildcats.com or by calling 1-866-WILDCAT. UNH’s home matches will be video streamed live online at unhwildcats.tv.
