VOLLEYBALL RATTLES OFF FOUR-STRAIGHT WINS, SECOND SEED IN UPCOMING AMERICA EAST CHAMPIONSHIP
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- The University of New Hampshire volleyball team won four straight league matches to end the regular season and capture the two seed for the 2009 America East Volleyball Championship on November 20-21. The come-back was capped off by a 3-0 straight-set victory over UMBC Sunday afternoon. The conference tournament will be hosted by University at Albany, the top seed who finished its second straight undefeated conference slate.
The Great Danes (20-8 overall, 10-0 in America East) will take on the fourth-seeded UMBC Retrievers (13-12, 5-5) in one semifinal on Friday, while the Wildcats (13-14, 5-5) will play the third-seeded Binghamton Bearcats (13-15, 5-5) in the other semifinal. The winners will play for an automatic NCAA Championship berth and the league title on Saturday, November 21 at 1 p.m. The semifinal match times are 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

and Stony Brook all finished with 5-5 conference records, and the
ties had to be broken by going deep into the tie-breaking criteria.
Three of UNH's last four wins were over Binghamton, Stony Brook and
Albany, the three-time defending champions, will welcome the other three teams and fans to University Gymnasium for the championship. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for youth aged 14 and under, and $2 for America East students with proper ID.
