VOLLEYBALL COMPLETES SPRING SLATE WITH 3-0 MARK AT UNH SPRING TOURNAMENT
DURHAM, N.H. -- University of New Hampshire volleyball
team completed the spring schedule by going 3-0 in the UNH Spring
Tournament on Saturday. The Wildcats played matches against
Dartmouth as well as Boston College and a UNH alumni team.The team
won six of their eight sets played with wins over Dartmouth (2-1:
12-25, 29-27 and 15-9), Boston College (2-1: 25-14, 18-25 and
15-12) and UNH alumni (2-0: 25-19 and 25-22).
Offensively, Lauren Laquerre (Concord, N.H.) led
the way with 27 kills, a .313 hitting percentage, three blocks and
27 digs. Amy Keding (Northbrook, Ill.) added 23
kills, four service aces and 30 digs. Middle blockers
Justine Elliott (Mitchellville, Md.) and
Starsha Tunstall (East Providence, R.I.) recorded
seven and six blocks, respectively. Sara Heldman
(Greenwood, Ind.) guided the offense for New Hampshire with 68
assists, six kills, five aces, four blocks and 28 digs.
Defensively, Jayde Huxtable (St. Charles, Ill.)
posted a team-high 48 digs and added three aces for New
Hampshire.
The Wildcats finished the spring with an impressive 8-2 record in
three weekend round-robin tournaments. Overall, New Hampshire won
19-of-26 sets in the spring. UNH will open the 2010 fall schedule
on Aug. 27-28 at Army. The Wildcats' first match will be Fri., Aug.
27 against St. John's at 2:30 p.m.
