Heldman accounted for 12 of UNH's 22 points in the second set with 11 assists and a kill. Early in the set, Laquerre notched two quick kills as the Wildcats raced out to an early 4-0 advantage. Nelson responded with three kills as Stony Brook climbed back to grab its first lead at 7-6. After falling behind 9-7, the 'Cats forged a tie at 9 courtesy of a kill from Destiny Tolliver (Rochester, Mich.) and a block from Justine Elliott (Mitchelville, Md.). Trailing 23-19 late in the set, UNH rallied for three straight points, the latter two coming on back-to-back Heldman-assisted kills from Laquerre to trim the deficit to 23-22. But the 'Wolves managed to claim the set's final two points for a 25-22 win.

In the third set, UNH erased an early 5-2 disadvantage by piecing together a 4-0 run, featuring two Laquerre kills and a service ace by Amy Keding (Northbrook, Ill.). The Wildcats took a 23-22 lead on Heldman's service ace and had set point on Laquerre's final kill of the match for a 24-23 lead. However, Stony Brook finished out the sweep on a game-tying kill from Ashley Headen, a kill from Evann Slaughter and the match-ending service ace from Headen.
