Volleyball Seeks Seventh Straight Win Against Stony Brook Friday (7 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team looks for its seventh straight win on Friday, Oct. 5 when they play host to Stony Brook for a 7 p.m. matchup at Lundholm Gymnasium. Links to live stats and video will be available at www.unhwildcats.com.
State of New Hampshire || The UNH volleyball team picked up a pair of road victories over UMBC (3-2) and Binghamton (3-1) last weekend. The Wildcats earned their sixth straight win to remain unbeaten in conference play, matching the program's longest winning streak since the 2003 campaign… Junior Morgan Thatcher (Brockton, Mass.) recorded double-digit kills in both victories, stretching her double-figure kill streak to six matches. Freshman Tori Forrest (Powder Springs, Ga.) racked up 14 kills with no attack errors for a .368 hitting percentage against Binghamton… As a team, UNH leads the conference in hitting percentage (.205), assists (11.72), kills (12.74) and digs (15.78)… Senior libero Jessie Schnepp (East Longmeadow, Mass.) paces the league in digs (4.97).
Scouting Stony Brook || The Stony Brook volleyball team stands at 6-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play after splitting a pair of home matches last weekend. The Seawolves fell to reigning champion Albany, 3-1, after topping Hartford, 3-1, in their conference opener… Freshman Melissa Rigo, who had a match-high 20 kills in the win over Hartford, leads the conference in kills (4.36) and ranks sixth in attack percentage (.233)… Stony Brook paces the league in opponent hitting percentage, limiting teams to a .174 clip.
The Series vs. SBU || New Hampshire and Stony Brook are even at 12-12 in the all-time series between the two programs. New Hampshire swept the season series last year with a pair of five-set victories. Most recently, the teams faced off in the semifinals at last year's conference tournament as Stony Brook picked up a 3-1 victory before falling to Albany in the championship match.
Thatcher Named Player of the Week || Thatcher earned her third Player of the Week honor this season, and second in as many weeks, announced by the league office on Monday. She totaled 35 kills and averaged 3.89 kills per set (ranking third in the conference) with a .351 hitting percentage (fifth in the conference) last week. In the five-set win over UMBC, Thatcher led the Wildcats with 18 kills and a .405 hitting percentage. Thatcher has led UNH in kills in every match during the team's six-match winning streak, averaging 4.24 kills per set and a .307 hitting percentage in that span.
Falcusan Named Setter of the Week || Falcusan quarterbacked UNH to a league-best .274 hitting percentage, averaging 11.44 assists per set. She logged 50-plus assists in both wins, posting 51 against UMBC before racking up 52 at Binghamton in four sets. Falcusan has recorded at least 30 assists in the last six matches since she missed the first three weeks of the season due to injury. UNH is on a six-match winning streak since Falcusan returned to the starting lineup as the setter has averaged 10.80 assists per set in that span, leading her team to a .252 hitting percentage.
