PARKER NAMED TOP COLLEGIATE TRACK FEMALE IN STATE
DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.), a runner for the University of New Hampshire track and cross country teams was named the top collegiate track female of the year in the state of New Hampshire in the January/February issue of New England Runner magazine.

Parker capped off one of the most impressive cross country careers in UNH history by placing 28th overall at the 253-runner NCAA National Championships on Nov. 19. Parker was the second quickest New England runner and the third fastest runner from the Northeast region. Her success in the race paved the way to her becoming the first All-American runner in the UNH program in nearly 15 years.

Parker competed in the NCAA National Championships for the second straight year after receiving one of only two individual at-large bids for the entire country.

Since 1996, UNH’s cross country program has sent four different runners to the NCAA National Championships. Of the four, Parker is the only member of the women’s team and is the only one to go twice.

In addition to such accomplishments, Parker was also the runner up at the 2007 America East Cross Country Championship and was named to the America East All-Conference Team. Parker was also named to the America East All-Academic Team and owned the highest GPA on the team.

Parker was named America East Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week this season Oct. 2 and Oct. 16. She also garnered ECAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors Oct. 2.
