CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced Tuesday that freshman Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team has been named ECAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 22.

Jesseman finished in first place Oct. 20 at the nine-team Central Connecticut State Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park to lead the Wildcats to an overall first-place finish. She finished the two-mile race in a time of 11 minutes, 31 seconds, edging out teammate Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.), who crossed the finish line just one second later at 11:32.

Jesseman is the second Wildcat to earn the honor this season. Senior Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) was named ECAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 1.

Jesseman also was named America East Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week earlier in the day, marking the third time the women’s cross country team has won the award this season. Parker had both previous awards for the weeks ending Oct. 1 and Oct. 15.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Oct. 27 when they travel to Stony Brook University for the America East Championships.
