WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY DROPS 2009 OPENER TO PROVIDENCE

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) finished fourth, but the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team lost a dual meet to Providence College on Sunday morning at the College Woods course in its first race of 2009.

Providence finished with 17 points, while the Wildcats tallied 43.
Fitzpatrick completed the three-mile course in 17 minutes, 1.00 second, just 15 seconds behind

Senior Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine), sophomore Liz Campbell (Colonia, N.J.) and senior Courtney Hamer (Andover, Mass.) rounded out the top 10 by finishing seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. Jesseman crossed the finish line at 17:27.00, Campbell finished at 17:39.00 and Hamer was in at 17:56.00

The Wildcats return to action Sunday, Sept. 13 at noon when they take part in the America East Pre-Championship meet at the University of Vermont.
