Women’s Cross Country Climbs to No. 9 in Northeast Region
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team moved up one spot to No. 9 in this week's Northeast Region Poll that was released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
UNH, which was ranked 10th in the previous poll, most recently finished third at the Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 10. Sophomore Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) was the top finisher for the Wildcats as she placed fifth overall in a time of 17:27 and was named the America East Performer of the Week for her efforts. Senior Jennifer Racine (Haverhill, Mass.) and freshman Marina Slavin (Durham, N.H.) placed 18th and 21st, respectively, in times of 17:53 and 17:58.
New Hampshire is ranked second highest of the four America East teams in this week's poll.
The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Sept. 23 when they visit Maine at 3 p.m.
