Women’s Cross Country Claims First at Maine Tri-Meet

ORONO, Maine – Freshmen Marina Slavin (Durham, N.H.) and Chelsey Serrano (Manchester, N.H.) and sophomore Anne Twombly (Exeter, N.H.) each turned in top-five finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team to a first-place finish over the University of Maine and Husson University Friday evening in Orono, Maine.

New Hampshire finished with a total of 27 points, placing ahead of Maine (29) and Husson (82).

Slavin placed third overall as she ran the 5k course in 18:53, while Twombly and Serrano placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in times of 19:03 and 19:07.

Freshman Meagan Boucher (Manchester, N.H.) finished sixth with a time of 19:18, while junior Erin Phillips (Belmont, N.H.) came in ninth as she ran the course in 19:30.

The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Sept. 30 when they take part in the Paul Short Invitational on the campus of Lehigh University.
