Women’s Cross Country Ties for Second at America East Championships
ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) finished third overall and two other Wildcats placed inside the top-10 as the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team tied for second place at the America East Championships Saturday morning at the University at Albany.
The Wildcats finished with 56 points to earn the runner-up spot for the second-straight season, sharing second place with Boston University, while Stony Brook captured the event with 40 points.
Fitzpatrick ran the 5-kilometer course in a time of 16:59, while junior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) claimed fourth place with a time of 17:03. Sophomore Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) finished 10th overall with a time of 17:28, joining Fitzpatrick and Maguire on the America East All-Conference Team.
Junior Darcy James (Exeter, N.H.) placed 11th overall, crossing the finish line at 17:29, while freshman Chelsey Serrano (Manchester, N.H.) and senior Elizabeth Campbell (Colonia, N.J.) placed 28th and 29th, respectively, in times of 18:21.01 and 18:21.03.
Junior Erin Phillips (Belmont, N.H) finished 35th overall in a time of 18:32.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Nov. 12 at the NCAA East Regional on the campus of the University at Buffalo.
