NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team is ranked 12th in this week's Northeast Region Poll that was released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The women's side remains in the top-15 for the sixth-straight week and moves to the 12th spot after a 23rd-place finish in the 37-team seeded division at the NCAA Pre-National meet over the weekend. The Wildcats were the only America East team to participate at the major meet, which featured some of the top programs in the nation, including No. 1 Florida State, No. 3 Oregon, No. 7 Michigan and No. 9 Georgetown. Senior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) finished 58th overall, completing the six-kilometer course in a time of 21:07.8.
New Hampshire is ranked highest of the three America East teams in this week's poll, finishing ahead of both Stony Brook (13) and Vermont (15).
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 27 when they host the America East Championships at College Woods.
