Robert Hoppler, a 1989 graduate of
the University of Rhode Island, is the head women's cross country
coach and assistant coach with the track and field programs. He is
currently in his 16th year with the cross country and distance men
at UNH, and in his 11th year as the head women's cross country
coach.
While at UNH, Hoppler has helped
guide the men and women to 14 conference championships (seven cross
country, four outdoor, three indoor). The women have three top-10
NCAA Regional finishes to go along with three ECAC University
Championships since 2002.
On the track, Hoppler has
coached multiple school record holders, conference and New England
Champions, as well as over 30 IC4A/ECAC honorees. In 2008, Hoppler
coached Cathy Parker to an All-America finish at the NCAA Cross
Country Championships. In addition, Hoppler coached Joanne Dow to
the 2008 United States Olympic Track Team in the 20K race walk.
Coach Hoppler has also coached multiple provisional NCAA track
qualifiers, as well as four cross country Academic All-Americans
and four America East Scholar Athletes in the past five years.
Under Coach Hoppler, the Wildcat women have been named as an
All-Academic Team over the past four seasons and acheived a 3.40
team GPA in the fall of 2009.
Coach Hoppler lives in Brookfield,
N.H., with his daughters Katie, Madison and Lauren.
